Message from Elm Class

Literacy: Our early years topic for this half term is ‘Tell Me A Story’, followed by ‘Fabulous Creatures’ for the second half of the term. This half term we will be enjoying a different story each week including children’s favourites such as The Tiger Who Came To Tea, Walking Through The Jungle and The Gingerbread Man.  Understanding of each story will be augmented through the use of ALD boards and the exploration of sensory resources. In the second half of the Spring term we will hear about fabulous sea creatures and dinosaurs.

Numeracy: In our numeracy lessons we will be focusing on number through counting, recognising and identifying numbers. We will be sorting and classifying objects, comparing objects and ordering by size. We will also be exploring 2D shapes, naming them and singing about their properties.

Understanding the World This term we will be celebrating Chinese New Year, Valentine’s Day, Shrove Tuesday and Easter.

Food technology: During our cookery lessons, we will be working on a variety of skills: chopping, spreading, rubbing, whisking and blending.

ICT We will be using ICT to find out about creatures and their habitats.

PE: This half term our PE focus is gymnastics. Our next lessons will focus on travelling in different ways.

We are looking forward to an exciting term. If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact me at school or via the school diary.
